The Bible says to put our hope in God/Jesus. That seems to tie in with this hymn which we sang during VBS last week: Jesus, I am resting resting. Because we have put our hope in Jesus, we can really rest in the joy of knowing who He is- we can rest in hope given to us by Him.
Another note on this song is what the VbS leader said about it: paraphrased, she said, "Say my husband isn't doing something I think he should be doing. I start to get upset. 'God, he isn't doing what you want him to.' No! If I'm resting in Jesus, I know that he has control over my husband. I rest in his peace."
I was really frustrated and upset recently and I remembered those words. I sang this hymn over and over and Over and OVER in my head, making myself calm down: Jesus is in control. I rest in who He is.
Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.
Refrain
Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
